Beyond The Twin Grey Rocks

North of here
Across seven seas
Beyond the Twin Grey Rocks
You will find that which you seek with Ameshaya The Blind Seer...

Maybe it is because I am such a terrible daydreamer. One minute I am in a meeting at work discussing strategies; the next minute, my mind is imagining jumping off an airplane in Dubia right after a cup of tea on the highest peak of the Himalayas. I am usually amazed at how far and fast my mind wanders. Even more amazing is trying to understand the level of "mind wandering" Creatives do to come up with a wonderful, beautiful, amazing piece of Fantasy Literature.

This is a Salute to every creator of Fantasy that has Whoa-ed me. For their minds to create complex worlds, stories, concepts that are perfectly intertwined and yet have not lived or experienced it, is amazing! I wonder how it starts; a whisper, an inspiration, adaptions of real events or do special Angels bring the manuscripts? Now, starting is the easy part, I am sure, do the stories start with the end in mind already, or the story develops as they write?

Not just written stories, some fantasies originally made for screen make the cut. Although screen adaptation of books is usually watered down (in my opinion), sometimes it gives the characters life. Having a face to loved/despised characters helps reading stories, especially one with sequels.

It is always a wonderful experience to be able to escape into a world where everything is possible. While all type of literary work appeals to me, fantasy takes the top spot; next is romance, thriller and everything between, with horror at the bottom of the list.

.

One day maybe, Ameshaya The Blind Seer will see the light of a story or not. Until then, here is my 21 Salutes to some works I love (promise to update the list from time to time) in no particular order:

- To J. R. R. Tolkein, for all the Middle-Earth stories, thank you
- To JK Rowling, I get lost happily in the Wizarding World. I imagine my Patronus to be a three-headed dragon (don't ask me why)
- To Dr. Seuss and Enid Blyton, the child in me will always be grateful.
- Ògbójú Ọdẹ nínú Igbó Irúnmọlẹ̀ and Igbo Olodumare by D. O. Fagunwa was read in Yoruba on a radio program back when I was a child and I can almost still see Abami Eda in my head.
- Tomi Adeyemi's Children of Blood and Bone introduced me to the Legacy of Orisha. Yet to finish the Trilogy though.
- To Royver, who I found on Nairaland, I am still standing with my cap in my hands waiting for more from Chukwudi The Great
-  The Song of Ice and Fire series by GRR Martin, I was one of the few that did not see any episode of HBO's adaptation of Game of Thrones when it first ran. Stumbled on an episode of its season 4 much later and was intrigued to pick up the book series.
- Twilight Saga By Stephanie Meyer had me wishing for my own Werewolf Vampire love tussle
- The Marvel Cinematic Universe sums up all my Superhero dreams in one up until Avengers Endgame and hoping for new heroes.
